The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy Provincial Masters Curling Championships, for curlers age 60 and over, get underway on Monday morning January 23 at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary. Defending champions, the Carol Sweetapple rink from the Cornwall Curling Club, and the Mel Bernard foursome from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside are back to defend their titles.
The seven men’s teams, and four women’s rinks from six PEI curling clubs will play double knockout format draws, Monday through Wednesday at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm, with the final men’s game, if needed, going at 5:30 pm Wednesday. The final women’s draw is Wednesday at 9:30 am. All games are eight ends. Opening ceremonies are Mnday at 12:30 pm.
Winners and runners-up earn the right to compete in the Maritime Masters Championships, February 12-19, in New Glasgow NS. The winning teams, or the highest-finishing men’s and women’s rinks that choose to attend, are invited to participate in the Canadian Masters, March 26 to April 1 in Montreal.
