Gray out of mixed doubles competition (Journal)

INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA — The Winter Youth Olympic Games competition has ended for the Maple Leaf Curling Club’s Emily Gray.

Gray and her Estonian teammate, Robert-Kent Paell, lost their first game in the mixed doubles curling competition 8-2 to the Russia/Japan team of Anastasia Moskaleva and Tsukasa Horigome on Friday afternoon.

Although they scored in only the fourth end, it was a stolen triple in the third end that proved to be the back-breaker.

The mixed doubles event is a single elimination competition.

The mixed doubles follows the mixed team competition, which ended Wednesday with Gray and her Canadian team winning Winter Youth Olympic bronze.
