PEI Mixed underway at the Fox

One draw is in the books after Friday play at the Provincial Mixed Curling Championship, being played at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside.

In the opening draw, Don Sheidow and his Charlottetown rink doubled Bill Hope and his combined Cornwall and Western Community curling club team 10-5, Robert Campbell got by  Charlottetown clubmate Kyle Stevenson 8-7 in an extra end, Blair Weeks and his Charlottetown/Montague rink scored 5 points in the last 3 ends in an 11-8 come from behind win over Corey Miller’s host club rink, and Larry Richards of Montague, aided by a steal of four in the fourth end, downed Blair Jay and his Silver Fox rink 9-3.

Eight team double knockout play continues with Saturday and Sunday draws at 11 am and 4 pm, and the final going Monday at 1 pm. If the same team were to win both the A and B sections of the draw, the final wouldn’t be needed.

The winning team will advance to the Canadian Mixed, November 15-24, 2012 at the Town of Mount Royal Curling Club in Montreal.
