PEI’s Shirley Berry rink, from the Cornwall and Charlottetown curlng clubs, picked up a 7-4 win over Northern Ontario, skipped by Darla Esch, on Monday night to improve to a 2-3 win-loss record at the Canadian Seniors Curling Championship in Abbotsford BC. Berry had lost 8-4 earlier in the day to Laurie Duprez of Manitoba. Third Sandy Hope, second Shelley Ebbett and lead Arleen Harris round out the Berry team.
Charlottetown’s Charlie Wilkinson team dropped to 1-4 with a 6-2 loss to Northern Ontario’s Robbie Gordon Monday night. Wilkinson lost 10-5 to Manitoba’s Kelly Robertson earlier on Monday. Other members of the Wilkinson squad are third Ken McGregor, second Phil McInnis and lead Bill Doherty.
Both PEI rinks play Saskatchewan today, with the Wilkinson team taking on Quebec in the evening.
Alberta leads both the men’s and women’s sections, with 5-0 records. BC and Newfoundland and Labrador are 4-1 on the men’s side, while NL and Saskatchewan are both 4-1 on the women’s.
The finals are on Sunday.
