Fanshawe takes gold in both men’s and women’s College Ch’ships

Play concluded today at the Canadian College Invitational Curling Championships, hosted by Fleming College, and taking place at the Peterborough Curling Club.

The Fanshawe men’s curling team defeated Red Deer College 5-4 for the CCAA Curling Championship Gold Medal. The men were behind 4-3 in the 8th end and came back with 2 points for the win in the 9th.

The Fanshawe women’s curling team defeated Grand Prairie Regional College 6-4 in the 10th end to win the CCAA Curling Championship Gold Medal.

PEI’s Holland College entry of Christian Tolusso (skip), Alex Sutherland (3rd), Taylor McInnis (2nd), Patrick Moore (lead), and Angela Hodgson (coach) finished fourth in the men’s section with a 3-4 record. Sixteen teams, eight men’s and eight women’s, from Alberta, Ontario, and PEI were entered in this year’s college curling championships, the first in almost two decades.
