At the 46th Canadian Postal Employees Curling Classic at the Cloverdale Curling Club in Surrey BC. PEI, represented again this year by the rink of Bob Cameron (skip), Eldon Kilbride (3rd), Regan Kenny (2nd) and Mike Bernard (lead), lost both their Thursday games, to drop to 1-8, losing 8-2 to defending champion Brent MacDougall and his Nova Scotia rink, and 12-11 to BC, who fought back from an 11-6 deficit with six points in the final three ends to take the win. PEI will finish up play against Manitoba in the final round robin draw, which gets underway at 9:30 this morning, BC time.
Alberta remains undefeated atop the standings at 9-0, and is assured a place in the Page 1 vs 2 game. There is currently a 3-way tie for second, with Saskatchewan, Northern Ontario and Nova Scotia all at 7-2. These teams will all advance to the Page round, as the next best team, BC, is two games back at 5-5. Tiebreakers, if needed, and the Page games go later today.
The semi-finals take place Saturday at 9 am, and the finals following at 1:30 pm (all times local-add 4 hours for PEI time).
