KARLSTAD, SWEDEN – The Niklas Edin rink will have a different look at next week’s Capital One Grand Slam of Curling Players’ Championship at EastLink Arena.
Edin, who skips the team, is unable to compete in Summerside due to back surgery. Third stone Sebastian Kraupp, who stepped in to skip some of the rink’s games at the recent world men’s curling championship in Basel, Switzerland, when Edin was unable to play, will serve as skip in Summerside from April 17 to 22.
“We are very excited to come and play in Summerside,” said Kraupp. “We have heard nothing but great things about P.E.I.”
The Swedish rink lost the final of last year’s Players’ Championship to Canadian Kevin Martin. It marked the first time a non-Canadian rink had made it to a final of a Grand Slam event.
Other members of Team Edin are lead Viktor Kjell and second stone Fredrik Lindberg. No announcement had been made by press time regarding the addition of a fourth player.
