SUMMERSIDE – The first men’s games were played in Draw 3 of the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling Sun Life Financial Players’ Championship on Wednesday afternoon.
Brad Gushue defeated the Niklas Edin rink of Sweden 4-1, and Kevin Koe edged Jeff Stoughton 5-4

In women’s action, Cathy Overton-Clapham stole a single point in the eighth and final end for a 6-5 win over Sherry Middaugh in a clash of 2-0 (won-lost) teams; Silvana Tirinzoni (2-1) stole single points in the final two ends for a 7-6 extra-end win over Chelsea Carey (0-3), and Heather Nedohin scored a pair of deuces with the hammer to down Jennifer Jones 5-2. Nedohin and Jones both sit at 1-2.
