Seven Mile Bay native moves up to third stone for Players’ Championship

Adam Casey describes his first year with the Brad Gushue rink as a building step.

Casey, who played second stone for the St. John’s, N.L., foursome all season, has moved up to third stone for this week’s $370,000 Capital One Grand Slam of Curling Sun Life Players’ Championship in Summerside.

“I’m a more complete player than I was a year or two ago,” said Casey, who is from Seven Mile Bay and a product of the junior program at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside. “I was able to learn a lot playing with Brad and the guys.

Casey is reunited with his former junior skip, Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, at the Players’ Championship. Gallant, who has moved into the second-stone role, takes the roster spot of Ryan Fry, who played third stone and recently parted ways with Team Gushue. Geoff Walker plays lead.
