Local preliminaries held for tomorrow’s Capital One Million Dollar Draw to the Button

The Capital One Million Dollar Draw to the Button will take place during the break following the fourth end at the Players’ Championship men’s final Sunday afternoon at Summerside’s Credit Union Place. The local preliminaries were held this afternoon, with five participants chosen by a random draw from entries received. Each player got two practice shots, and then each one got a chance to draw to the button, with no help from sweepers. The local winner was Tegan Stride from Summerside’s Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club. Her rock ended up biting the button.

Winners from other Capital One qualifying events  also competed this afternoon, and the eventual finalist from the playdowns will draw to the button for up to $1M on Sunday afternoon.

The finalist will have the option of throwing one curling rock unaided for a maximum available prize of $1,000,000 or throwing one curling rock with the aid of professional sweepers and a skip for a maximum available prize of $100,000. No practice shot will be provided or allowed for the Final Event. To win the big money, the rock must cover the hole that is in the centre of the button. There are also smaller prizes in the event that the rock ends up in the house, but does not cover the button. Click for full regulations.
