Million Dollar Draw to the Button contestant goes home with $5000

First year curler Beth Tetreault of Thessalon Ontario had the chance to go home with a lot of money today after the fourth end of the “Capital One Million Dollar Draw to the Button” contest at the Sun Life Financial Players’ Championship in Summerside. However, her attempt, telecast live on Global TV, was a little heavy, and her rock went through the rings. Organizers presented her with a consolation prize of $5000. Tetreault had the choice of drawing for $100,000, with the aid of expert sweepers, or to go it alone for the $1M prize. She chose to go for the big money.

Tetreault advanced to the final by winning a quarter-final during the GP Car and Home World Cup of Curling in Sault Ste. Marie in November, drawing to 6.5 inches of the button. On Saturday, she won the playoff against the other regional winners, including Summerside’s Tegan Stride.
