It took an extra end, but the Brad Gushue rink, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey moved to a 2-0 win-loss record with a 7-6 win over Mark Pfister of Switzerland at the Baden Masters, the first event in the men’s World Curling Tour, in Baden, Switzerland. Earlier today, the St. John’s foursome posted an 8-5 victory over Alexsey Tselousov of Moscow, Russia, picking up 4 points in the third end on the way to the win. Team Gushue plays the Rasmus Stjerne from Denmark (1-1) at 12:45 pm Atlantic, and wrap up round robin play on Saturday at 9 am against Bernhard Werthemann and his Swiss rink.
The event, which wraps up Sunday, has a total purse of almost $30,000 Cdn. The Team Gushue roster has Casey playing third, Gallant second, and Geoff Walker at lead. Team Gushue are the only Canadian rink in the event.
