MacLean rinks in consolation round at Ottawa Junior Superspiel

The two teams from PEI, skipped by siblings Matthew and Amanda MacLean from the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary, have both finished triple-knockout play at the 2012 JSI – OVCA Junior SuperSpiel in the Ottawa area, with 1-3 win-loss records, out of contention for the $3,000 top prize. Both rinks are now in the consolation round, at 9 am – with Matthew playing Felix Asselin, and Amanda facing Ben Miskew (men’s and women’s teams are combined in the consolation event). Top prize in the consolation round is $600. The event semi-finals go today at noon, with the finals at 4:00pm ET.

This year’s event includes international teams from Scotland, Switzerland and the USA, as well as every province east from Manitoba to Newfoundland, including teams that finished in the top of the field at the 2012 and 2011 Canadian Junior Championships, Optimist U18 Championships, Atlantic U18 Championships as well as the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
