The 2013 Canadian Mixed, which gets underway this week at Mont-Royal Quebec, will be played in two parts, with four teams taking part in a relegation event, starting on Thursday, and two of those teams advancing to the main event, which gets underway on Saturday. PEI has escaped the relegation round, but two other Atlantic provinces haven’t, with Newfoundland and Labrador, skipped by Kenny Young of Cornerbrook, taking on the Yukon in one game in the opening draw, and Nova Scotia, skipped by Brent MacDougall of CFB Halifax, playing Nunavut in the other.
PEI, skipped by Robert Campbell, with third Rebecca Jean MacDonald, second Robbie Doherty, and lead Jackie Reid, won the 2011 Canadian Mixed championship in Morris, Manitoba, and will face one of the two qualifiers from the relegation event in the opening draw of this year’s main event, Saturday at 7:30 pm Atlantic. The finals go Saturday the 24th at 3 pm AT.
