Round robin play wraps up today at The Dominion Curling Club Championships in Scarborough Ont. The PEI rinks have 1-3 win-loss records, following losses yesterday to Saskatchewan and NS, and face Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador today. The semi-finals go Friday, with the women’s final Saturday at 11:45 am Atlantic, and the men’s at 3 pm AT.

In the men’s division last night, Nova Scotia’s Wayne Sangster had the hammer in the 6th end in their game against PEI’s Alan Inman rink, and their last rock was an easy take-out to score 3. Final score was Nova Scotia 7 and Prince Edward Island 2.
In the women’s division,, it only took 7 ends for Nova Scotia skip and PEI native Marion MacAulay to take the game in an 8-2 final over PEI. The game clincher went down in the 6th end with MacAulay taking four points. PEI’s Nola Murphy rink didn’t go without some exciting moments, including a major decision in the 5th; when facing five, Murphy elected to draw and cut Team MacAulay down to only one point.
There was a rare draw tie in the women’s game between Manitoa and New Brunswick, which the western team won 8-3. In the 6th end, NB chose to draw – coming up with a tie measure on their second rock; and taking only one point. On-ice official Bill Rouke commented that in 20 years he’s only seen three tie draws
The three Prairie provinces are still unbeaten on the men’s side, followed by Ontario at 3-1. Ontario is the only unbeaten women’s team, with Manitoba at 4-1, and NB, NS, Quebec, and Alberta all at 3-1.
