Finalists declared at The Dominion (CCA)

The Women:

The  Ontario women played a near textbook perfect game against NWT – setting up shots in the house and then lining their guards up dead in front. They started off strong with the hammer and maintained the lead throughout the entire game. They stacked the back of the house with 3 in the first end and then drew in for 4. NWT put up a good fight but missed a few opportunities that would have helped them score. They did put up one on the board in the 5th end but Ontario took the last end for an 11 to 1 score.
The Quebec team played an aggressive game against Manitoba hitting out everything that moved and ended  up with the win with a 10 to 2 score. Quebec played a strong, aggressive game and barely missed a shot. In the final end, Quebec was sitting 3 in the 6th end and tapped back their rock to take six and the game was over.

The Ontario and Quebec women move on to the finals on Saturday morning.

The Men:

On the men’s side, Manitoba was given a run for their money by the Nova Scotia men.   With Manitoba exiting the round robin undefeated, Nova Scotia entered the semi-final  as the clear underdog. The boys from Nova Scotia delivered an even battle, end by end, throughout the game – to the delight of their large band of fans in the stands (and online).  The seventh and eighth end proved a struggle for Nova Scotia.  A steal of 2 in the eighth sealed their fate, sending Manitoba forward to take on the opposition in the finals on Saturday. The final score was 7:3.

In an evenly matched game between Alberta and Saskatchewan, the two teams traded points end after end.   At the close of the seventh end, it was a tie game.  The intensity in the club was paramount and the stakes high. Coming down to the last rock, Alberta took the title with a final score of 7:6. The Alberta and Manitoba men will meet in the final game Saturday afternoon.
