Four rinks remain undefeated with 2-0 win-loss records after day two of the O’Connor Glass Provincial Under 16 Curling Championships at the Crapaud Community Curling Club.
In the six team girl’s section, the Kaleigh MacKay combined team from the host club and Summerside’s Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club, and the Rachel O’Connor foursome from the Cornwall Curling Club moved to 2-0 with decisive wins this afternoon – 15-2 for O’Connor over Taya Ray Crossman and her Crapaud/Silver Fox team, and 9-1 for MacKay over Charlottetown’s Lauren Moerike foursome. Danielle Collings (Montague) and Karlie Lewis (Western) are 1-1, while Crossman and Moerike are 0-2. The next round robin girl’s draw goes at 10 am Saturday, with MacKay taking on O’Connor in one of the 6:30 pm games.
In the eight-team triple-knockout boy’s section, Leslie Noye and his Western Community Curling Club team, and Tyler Smith and his Montague/Crapaud rink are both 2-0 and will play in the A qualifier, Saturday at 2 pm. Smith stole a seven-ender this morning in a 16-4 win over Avery Wells from Cornwall and Crapaud, while Noye’s game was closer, 6-4 over Summerside’s Alex MacFadyen.
Wells and MacFadyen will face off Saturday at 2, with the winner taking on the A final loser in the B qualifier, at 6:30 pm Saturday. The final two qualifiers for the 6 pm Sunday Page round will be decided in the 10 am Sunday draw.
The second and third place girl’s teams following the round robin advance to the semi-final, Monday at 1 pm, with the winner taking on the first place team in the 5 pm final. The boy’s semi, between the Page 1-2 loser and the Page 3-4 winner, goes Monday at 1, with the winner taking on the Page 1 winner in the final, at 5 pm.
