The first two of the four qualifiers for the Page championship round at the 10-team triple-knockout Curl PEI Provincial Mixed Curling Championship at the Montague Curling Club have now been decided, with Bill Hope and his Cornwall Curling Club rink winning the “A” qualifier, and PEI Senior champ and Tankard runner-up skip Rod Macdonald and his Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club/Charlottetown Curling Complex team winning the “B”.

Hope stole a deuce in the final end of his game against Charlottetown’s Jamie Newson rink to win 9-7, while MacDonald beat Newson 7-1 in six ends in his qualifier game. Hope and MacDonald will now advance to the Page 1 vs 2 game, Sunday at 3 pm. The winner of that game will advance to the 3 pm Monday final, while the loser will play the winner of the Page 3 vs 4 game in the semi-final, with the winner of that game going to the final as well.

The last two qualifers will be decided in the 10 am Sunday draw, with Newson taking on clubmate Jamie Jackson for Qualifier #3, and Kevin Champion of Charlottetown taking on Montague’s Donald Clarey. The winners of these games will advance to the Page 3 vs 4 game, at 3 pm Sunday.

The winner of Monday’s final will advance to the Canadian Mixed, November 14-23 at the Rideau Curling Club in Ottawa.
