PEI loses Brier opener vs Sask in extra end, will play Gushue, with Casey and Gallant, at 9:30

Saskatchewan’s Brock Virtue drew to the 4 foot for 4-3 extra-end win over PEI’s Eddie MacKenzie in the Tim Hortons Brier opening draw in Edmonton, before over 15,000 fans. MacKenzie tied it up with a deuce in the 10th to force the extra.

Newfoundland and Labrador, skipped by Brad Gushue, with PEI natives Adam Casey and Brett Gallant on the team, and PEI’s Peter Gallant coaching, scored a five-ender in a 10-2 win over Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming.

Gushue will play MacKenzie at 9:30 pm Atlantic in draw two.

Kevin Martin vs Jeff Stoughton will be the featured game on TSN at 9:30 pm.
