The MacDonald rink, which includes third Kathy O’Rourke, second Mark O’Rourke, and lead Karen MacDonald, stole deuces in the seventh and eighth ends on the way to the win. MacDonald also skipped this year’s runner-up rink in the PEI Men’s championship, and the winning team in the PEI Seniors. Hope went undefeated in the triple knockout draw, qualifying first for the Page round, while MacDonald, who lost his opener 10-5 to Jamie Jackson, after giving up a five-ender in an otherwise close game, qualified second, and then edged Hope 8-7 in an extra end in the Page 1 vs 2 game on Sunday afternoon to advance to today’s final.
Rounding out the runner-up Hope rink, who defeated the Jamie Newson team by a 10-4 score in the semi-final this morning, also stealing deuces in the seventh and eighth ends, are third Sandy Hope, second Craig Mackie, and lead stone Shelley Ebbett.
The MacDonald team will advance to the Canadian Mixed, November 14-23 at the Rideau Curling Club in Ottawa.
