The Holland College Hurricanes, skipped by Matthew MacLean, sit at 2-3 at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association curling championship, which wraps up on Saturday at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton AB, with eight men’s and an equal number of women’s rinks taking part. After splitting their opening day games on Wednesday, the Hurricanes won one and lost two matches on Thursday, losing 8- 4 in eight ends to the host Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Ooks, picking up a 10- 9 extra end victory over the Lakeland Rustlers, and losing 7-3 to the Augustana Vikings.
The Hurricanes team, which also includes third Jonathan Kennedy, second Alex Sutherland, and lead stone Wyatt Johnson, and is coached by Angela Hodgson, finish up round robin action on Friday with games at 830 am (Fanshaw Falcons) and 2 pm (Grant MacEwan Griffins). Games are 10 ends.

NAIT and Confederation lead the standings with 4-1 win-loss records, followed by MacEwan and Fanshawe at 3-2. The Sault, along with Holland College and Augustana are 2-3, with Lakeland at 0-5.
Tiebreakers, if needed, go at 6, and, if required, 9 pm on Friday. The bronze medal game takes place at 9:30 am Saturday, with the gold medal championship game at 2:30 pm. (All times Mountain – add 3 hours for Atlantic). The bronze and gold medal games will be streamed live on the event website.
