Double loss for PEI at Canadian Firefighters today – record now 3-6 with one round robin game left

The Summerside Fire Department rink of Gordon MacFadyen, Leo Stewart, Jim Arsenault, and Jason Cameron lost both their games today at the 54th Canadian Firefighters Curling Championshop in Saint John New Brunswick to finish the day with a 3-6 win-loss record, which will put them out of playoff contention. Southern Ontario (5-3) followed their 3 point fifth end with a stolen triple in the sixth in a 10-3 victory over the Island squad in morning draw, while Manitoba (4-4) picked up a four-ender and a triple in their 9-4 win over the MacFadyen foursome in the afternoon.

PEI has the bye on Thursday morning, and plays BC in the final round robin draw in the afternoon

Saskatchewan, skipped by Gregg Tarasoff, is alone in 1st place in the round robin, with a 7-1 record, followed by defending champion Jeff Zechner and his Northern Ontario rink at 6-2. Alberta, BC, Nova Scotia, and Southern Ontario all sit at 5-3. Manitoba and  NB both have four wins, PEI has three, Quebec one, and the Northwest Territories are 0-8.

Four teams will advance to the Page playoff round, with the final going Saturday at 1 pm.
