PEI rinks win openers at Optimist International U18 Curling Ch’ships in BC

The PEI Mens and Womens rinks both won their opening draws last night at the  Optimist International U18 Curling Championships in Surrey/Langley, BC. The PEI men, skipped by Tony Nabuurs, recorded a 6-4 win over Minnesota, while the Women, skipped by Jenny McLean, won over Northern Ontario 5-3.

The Nabuurs foursome is a combined team with members from the Charlottetown Curling Complex, and  the Montague and Maple Leaf curling clubs, and also includes third Parker O’Connor, second Alan MacLean, and lead Noah O’Connor, with coach Glen MacLean.

Third Lauren MacFadyen, second stone Ava Whitney-Coulter, and lead Emily Vaniderstine. round out the McLean rink, from the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside. The team is coached by Dr. Don Vickerson.
