Leave it to the off season to create some of the biggest headlines of the curling year.

Last week, John Morris walked away from Team Kevin Martin, even though they have a free pass to the Winnipeg Olympic trials in hand. Shocker? Not so much, but for the timing.

The aforementioned Morris has joined Kelowna/Vernon’s Jimmy Cotter for the Olympic run. Cotter was quick to hit social media explaining the deal:

“Just wanting to update everyone and let you know that John Morris has joined our curling team. He approached us with a five-man team option, not with the intent to replace anyone on the team. Not every day an opportunity of this magnitude presents itself, ALL of us agreed it’s a great opportunity. No one is out, everyone is 100% in,” he said.
