The Brad Gushue rink, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey, will be in the money again this weekend, after advancing to the quarter-final round, with a 4-1 win-loss record, at the Stu Sells Oakville World Curling Tour event in Ontario. Last weekend they went undefeated to win the season-opening Baden Masters in Switzerland.

The quarter-finals go at 10 am Atlantic, with Gushue facing Nick Rizzo from Brantford, Jean-Michel Menard from Gatineau QC playing the young Craig Van Ymeren team from Aylmer ON, defending champion Brad Jacobs from the Soo taking on the Bryan Cochran rink from Ottawa, with 2010 winner Mathew Camm throwing 4th stones, and Calgary’s Kevin Koe against Ontario’s Joe Frans rink.The 35 team men’s division has a total prize purse of $34,000.
The semis go at 1:30 Atlantic, with the final at 4:30 pm ADT.
The women’s championship event has the same draw times, with the quarters seeing Julie Hastings (ON) play Anna Sidorva (Russia), Cathy Auld battle Cissi Ostlund (Sweden), defending champion Erica Brown (USA) take on Alina Paetz (Switz.), and 2011 champ Sherry Middaugh (ON) facing Julie Reddick (ON). 25 women’s teams are entered with a total purse of $24,000.
