It’s a busy weekend for PEI curlers, including those now curling out of Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Three rinks with PEI natives on board are getting in some last minute competition before they compete in the Olympic Pre-Trials, November 5-10 in Kitchener ON.
Both the Crystal Webster rink out of Calgary, with PEI native Geri-Lynn Ramsay at second, and the Laura Crocker rink from Edmonton, with Islander Erin Carmody at third, are participating in the $60,000, 32 team Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Women’s Classic in Winnipeg. The Brad Gushue from St. John’s NL, with PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey, are in Gatineau Quebec, for the $42,000, 32 team “Challenge Château Cartier de Gatineau” World Curling Tour event, which got underway on Thursday, and concludes on Sunday. Also participating is PEI’s Eddie MacKenzie foursome.

At the moment, the Gushue rink are 2-0, while the MacKenzie team are 1-1, and are on the ice now against the Bowie Abbis-Mills rink from across the river in Ottawa.
Closer to home, the annual Lady Monctonian women’s cashspiel gets underway this morning and wraps up on Sunday at Curl Moncton. The Suzanne Birt, Kim Dolan, and Kathy O’Rourke teams from PEI are there. Standings are being provided at the Curl Moncton Facebook page www.facebook.com/curl.moncton
