Gushue in the playoffs, MacKenzie eliminated, Webster and Crocker 1-1 at World Curling Tour events

WCT LogoThe Laura Crocker rink from Edmonton, which includes PEI native Geri-Lynn Ramsay, and the Crystal Webster foursome out of Calgary, with PEI native Erin Carmody playing third, each have one win and one loss following opening day play at the $60,000 32 team triple-knockout Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Women’s Curling Classic in Winnipeg. Crocker faces Tracy Horgan of Sudbury at 11 am Atlantic today, while Webster will battle reigning world champion Eve Muirhead of Scotland at 2 pm AT. The final goes Monday at 7 pm Atlantic.

At the $42,000 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Gatineau Quebec, also a 32 team triple-knockout event, the Brad Gushue rink out of St. John’s, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey, has already qualified for the money round, going 4-0 to win one of the two A-side spots, along with hometown favourite Jean-Michel Menard. PEI’s Eddie MacKenzie is out, going 1-3 for the weekend, after losing his third game Friday afternoon, to Greg Richardson of Ottawa. The event final is Sunday at 4:30 pm AT.
