Veronica Smith rink, Chris Gallant still alive at JSI OVCA SuperSpiel

The PEI Provincial Junior Women’s champion Veronica Smith rink from the Cornwall Curling Club, and Island native Chris Gallant, who is currently attending university in Winnipeg and curling on the Kyle Doering rink, both picked up a win and had two losses today in the 20th annual JSI OVCA Junior Superspiel in Ottawa, taking them into Saturday play at the triple knockout event.

Smith lost her Friday morning opener to  Beth Peterson of Winnipeg, but won her afternoon game against Abby Bolton of Ottawa. The PEI foursome then lost to another Maritime entry,
Jessica Daigle of New Brunswick, this evening, and will take on  Lauren Horton of Ottawa at 10 am AT on Saturday.

Kyle Doering won his opening draw game against Adam Freilich of Quebec, but then lost to Nova Scotia’s Scott Babin, and to Korey Dropkin of the USA. They face Newfoundland and Labrador’s Stephen Trickett in the morning draw.

The finals go Sunday at 5 pm AT.
