The Smith rink beat the Jennifer Martin team from Scotland 3-1 this afternoon, and play the American Cory Christensen foursome tonight. The Doering team beat the Robert Mayhew squad from Nova Scotia, coached by former Islander Alan Mayhew, a member of the 1977 World Junior Championship rink from Charlottetown, by a 6-4 score this afternoon, and face Ontario’s Jason Camm team tonight.
The winners of tonight’s games will play again at 10 am Sunday, with the morning winners qualifying for the semi-finals.
Four men’s and four women’s rinks advance to their respective semi-finals, Sunday at 1 pm, with the finals following at 5 pm. The event winners go home with $3300, with the runners-up receiving $1800, and the remaining semi-finalists pocketing $1100/team.
