PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink have a 3-1 win-loss record, while the Kathy O’Rourke team are 1-2 after Friday play at the $15,000 24 team triple knockout Royal LePage OVCA Women’s Fall Classic World Curling Tour event in Kemptville Ontario.
The Birt foursome won 7-4 in the Friday night late draw against the Alanna Routledge rink of Montreal, and have advanced to a B section qualifier at 12:30 Atlantic this afternoon. Earlier, the PEI Scotties champs picked up a 6-4 win over the Lisa Farnell foursome from Elgin Ont., and a 7-5 victory over Katie Morrissey of Ottawa, but lost to Allison Flaxey of Listowel Ont., who stole the last end for a 5-4 win.
The Kathy O’Rourke team lost their first two games, 6-3 to Julie Hastings of Thornhill Ont. and 11-5 to Nina Spatola of Madison, Wisconsin, but stayed alive with a 6-3 win over Courtney George of St. Paul Minnesota. The PEI rink faces Montreal’s Eve Belisle team at 10 am AT on Saturday.
