The Brad Gushue team, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey,  is still in the chase for the Canadian Open title after a pair of wins last night. Their first was a 7-6 victory in the extra end over Kevin Martin at the Grand Slam of Curling event Friday evening in Medicine Hat.

Kevin Martin rebounded from the loss and finished the round-robin at 4-1 with an 8-2 rout over Jeff Stoughton in the late draw. Also in that draw, Gushue snapped a 4-4 tie with a three-pointer in the sixth and stole two in the seventh to lift his rink to a 9-4 victory over Saskatoon’s Steve Laycock (1-4).

Gushue improved to 3-2 in the tournament and faces Martin in the quarterfinals at 1 pm Atlantic.
