Alyssa Wright works hard sweeping a stone during play in the Pepsi P.E.I. junior curling championships at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside. Wright is second stone for the Kaleigh MacKay rink from the Montague and Crapaud clubs.

Smith, who curls out of the Cornwall Curling Club, opened play with an 11-5 win over clubmate Emily Keen on Thursday night, and followed that up with two wins on Friday – 8-2 over Cornwall’s Meghan Ching and 7-4 over the Silver Fox’s Jenny McLean (0-3).

Amanda MacLean of Cornwall is the only other undefeated women’s team at 2-0.

In men’s evening action, Kyle Holland of the Charlottetown Curling Complex scored a pair of three-enders and a deuce in handing defending-champion Tyler Smith a 9-5 setback. Holland is 2-0 and Smith is 1-1.

The Matthew MacLean rink from Cornwall and the Silver Fox is also 2-0. They scored five in the opening end en route to an 11-3 triumph over the Silver Fox’s Justin Campbell (1-1).

Holland and MacLean will meet in the A qualifier on Saturday morning.
