The Veronica Smith rink from the Cornwall Curling Club will be making a return trip to the Canadian Juniors, this time in Liverpool NS, while the Kyle Holland team from the Charlottetown Curling Complex will be heading to the Juniors for the first time, with the exception of second Alex Sutherland, who was also on last year’s winning team, skipped by Tyler Smith.

The 14 men’s and 14 women’s teams begin play Saturday at both the Queens Place Emera Centre and the Liverpool Curling Club, while the playoff round will be played at the Emera Centre. The PEI contingent’s opening games are at 2 pm, with the Smith team playing Manitoba (Meaghan Brezden) at the Emera Centre, and the Holland foursome facing New Brunswick (Rene Comeau) at the curling club. The PEI women play Ontario (Molly Greenwood) at 7 pm.
The pooled teams play a round robin Saturday through Thursday, with the top three teams in each pool, plus two teams with the next best won-lost records, advancing to the Championship Round for a further four-game partial round robin from Wednesday through Friday,
The top team of each gender then advances to its respective final, while the second- and third-place finishers meet in a semifinal to determine the other finalist. The women’s semifinal is Saturday morning, while the men’s semifinal is Sunday morning. The women’s finals go Saturday afternoon, while the men’s take place Sunday afternoon, both at 4 pm. There is also a Mixed Doubles competition for the non-finalists on Saturday and Sunday. As well, the six teams of each gender that don’t qualify for the Championship Round meet in a Seeding Round to determine ranking for the 2015 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors, to be staged in Corner Brook, N.L.
