Prince Edward Island teams won their first games Sunday at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian juniors curling championship in Liverpool, N.S.
The Veronica Smith rink out of the Cornwall Curling Club defeated Northern Ontario 10-4 in nine ends and Newfoundland and Labrador 10-3 in eight ends.
The Island squad is 2-2 in pool B heading into today’s action. They play New Brunswick at 9:30 a.m. and Nova Scotia at 6:30 p.m.
The Kyle Holland rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex beat the Northwest Territories 11-3 and lost 12-6 to Nova Scotia in eight-end games on Sunday.
The Island team is 1-2 in pool B. They play British Columbia at 9:30 a.m. and Alberta at 2 p.m.
