The Brad Gushue rink, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey, lost this morning’s final to Team Russia, Adamant club, Tselousov, by a 4-1 score at the Red Square Curling Classic, which took place outdoors in Moscow’s famed Red Square. The Russians stole a single in the first end, and a deuce in the third. The two teams traded singles in ends four and five to give the Russians a 4-1 lead coming home, running the Gushue squad out of rocks in the final end.
The Canadians reported that the ice this morning was “a little snowy”, and that they had difficulty throwing the rocks hard enough, but said that curling in Red Square was “a fun experience and a well run event”.
Team Gushue will be playing in the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial men’s curling championships, which begin on Monday.
