Defending U16 champs pick up opening draw wins (Journal)

ALBERTON – The defending-champion Alex MacFadyen rink from the Silver Fox and the Lauren Lenentine rink from Cornwall picked up where they left off last year, winning their opening games of the O’Connor Glass Curl P.E.I. provincial under-16 curling championships on Thursday night.

The opening girls’ draw was played at Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary, and the boys got their competition started at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton.The rest of the schedule for the five boys’ teams and eight girls’ rinks entered will be played in Alberton.The boys are playing a round robin, with the top three teams advancing to the playoffs. The girls are playing a triple-knockout format, with a Page playoff.
