The four PEI Canada Games Training Teams, skipped by Lauren Moerike, Kaleigh MacKay, Tyler Smith, and Alex MacFadyen, had the opportunity to play against each other, with help from some of the Players’ Championship participants, on Sunday afternoon on the world-class ice at the Eastlink Arena of Credit Union Place in Summerside, in the Junior Grand Slam of Curling event. The four Grand Slam curlers, John Epping, Laura Crocker, Viktor Kjäll, and Pat Janssen, were each assigned a Training Team, and were out on the ice with them, coaching and helping out in every way, except actually throwing the rocks. Following the curling, the teams were presented with autographed Grand Slam of Curling jackets, and received complimentary tickets to the Players’ Championship Men’s final. The Training Teams will be playing off again in best-of-three series in November, with the winning men’s and women’s rinks advancing to the 2015 Canada Games in Prince George BC.
