Wellington Gay of Stratford, a long-time curler and former president of the Charlottetown Curling Club (1998-99 season), as well as a former Commodore of the Charlottetown Yacht Club, and a volunteer in both curling and yachting, has passed away at the age of 65. Wellington was a longtime employee of Island Cable and then Eastlink. As a member of the Crossroads Rural Community Fire Company, he was a six-time winner of the Provincial Firefighters Curling Championship, five times as skip, and once as second.

After a short illness and peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, of Wellington Gay of Stratford age 65 Yrs. Beloved son of Gordon ( Bus ) Gay and loving husband of Nancy MacDonald. Wellington is also survived by his sons – Paul ( Ashley ) and Marty; Grandson – Liam Gay; sister – Norma Millar ( Lawrence ) and niece – Laura Millar. He was predeceased by his mother – Nina Gay and his brother – Gordon Gay.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, for visitation on Friday, September 19, 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, at Stratford Chapel – Hillsboro Funeral Home, at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow later at the People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Cross Roads Rural Community Fire Company would be appreciated.
