After defeating David Murdoch of Scotland 6-3 in the quarter-finals and Glenn Howard 7-6 in the semifinals, Olympic gold-medallist Brad Jacobs scored five in the fourth end to blow open a close game en route to a 7-1 win.
“Not bad for a new team out of a small island,” said Casey in a phone interview with the Journal Pioneer following the championship game. “It was great for us.”
The Casey rink, which went 4-1 (won-lost) in round-robin play, collected close to $7,500 in prize money in the World Curling Tour event.
“We are getting more comfortable with each other,” said Casey, who is from Seven Mile Bay. “We are starting to understand each other’s delivery, and making those fine technical adjustments to make shots.”
