PEI’s Tammi Cudmore rink advances to the Travelers Curling Club Ch’ship final in Halifax

The PEI women’s team of Tammi Cudmore, Julie Scales, Jane DiCarlo, and Anne Chouinard defeated the Manitoba rink skipped by Tracy Andries by a 9-5 score this evening to advance to the 9 am Saturday final of the national Travelers Curling Club Championship at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifaxx. The Island squad started the game by stealing a triple  but Manitoba tied it up with a deuce and a single steal. PEI had an open draw for five points in the fourth, but Cudmore’s final shot came up short, and they settled for four, and a 7-3 lead at the half.

The PEI rink then stole a deuce in the fifth for a commanding 9-3 lead. Manitoba took singles in the next two ends, but PEI ran Manitoba out of rocks with Cudmore’s first shot in the 8th end. PEI advanced to the semis with a 5-1 round robin win-loss record. The PEI men’s team, skipped by Phillip McInnis, ended round robin play with a 3-3 record, just out of the playoffs.

The PEI women will face Ontario, who beat the Northwest Territories team by a 6 score this evening, in the 9 am final. The  men’s final at the same time will see Saskatchewan take on Ontario.
