O’Rourke outscores Birt in high-scoring A section final (TC Media)

SUMMERSIDE – Kathy O’Rourke is the only undefeated rink after two draws at the 2015 P.E.I. Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

O’Rourke defeated Suzanne Birt 11-9 in a battle of Summerside natives in the A section final of the four-team provincial women’s curling championship at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club on Friday night. The win also secures the Al Ledgerwood-coached O’Rourke team a berth in the championship round.

In the other evening draw game, Kim Dolan defeated Lisa Jackson 9-8 to improve to 1-1 (won-lost). In the afternoon’s opening draw, O’Rourke defeated Jackson 6-2 while Birt outlasted Dolan 9-5.
