The 3 pm B final (game may be a few minutes late starting due to opening ceremonies) will feature the Kathy O’Rourke and Suzanne Birt rinks – the same teams as in yesterday’s “A” final at the PEI Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship at Summerside’s Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club. Yesterday, O’Rourke took three points in the final end to win the A final by an 11-9 score. If O’Rourke wins again today in the B, she will get to play in both championship games on Monday, and win the title if she takes either game, while her opponent would have to win both games.
In this morning’s B semi-final, Birt was trailing 7-6 after nine ends, coming home without hammer against defending champion Kim Dolan, but tied the game at 7 with a stolen single in the tenth when a Dolan draw was a little light, and stole the extra as well when Dolan was left with an in-off hit and roll to the button, but didn’t make it, giving Birt an 8-7 win to advance to this afternoon’s B final against O’Rourke. The other 3 pm Scotties game will see Cornwall’s Lisa Jackson take on defending champ Dolan, with the loser eliminated from the competition.
