ALBERTON — This might be Adam Casey’s first time participating in the Curl P.E.I. Provincial Men’s Tankard curling championship, but the skip of the Tankard’s first seed is certainly not lacking in experience.

Adam Casey gets in some practice throws on the Western Community Curling Club’s Alberton ice. He’s getting ready for the Curl PEI Tankard Men’s Provincial modified triple knock-out championship which starts there Friday. Six teams are entered.
It’s not surprising that the new team locked up the first seed; they stacked up points in playing in way more cash spiels than any of the other teams that are heading to Western Community Curling Club in Alberton this weekend to compete.
The Casey rink which also consists of Josh Barry, Anson Carmody and Robbie Doherty, competed in 13 cashspiels including being the first P.E.I. team to make it to a Grand Slam event, and they got into two of those.
“Being the number one seed is nice,” Casey admitted, “because we get an advance: we don’t have to play the first game of the triple knockout, but, other than that, I don’t think it means much.”
