UPEI-hosted Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Curling Championship starts Friday in Montague

UPEI will be hosting the 2015 Subway Atlantic University Sport Curling Championship from February 13-15, 2015 at the Montague Curling Club. Five men’s and an equal number of women’s teams are taking part. UPEI is sending one team – the women’s rink of Veronica Smith, Jane DiCarlo, Emily Gray, and Aleya Quilty, with coach Paul Smith. PEI native Alex Sutherland is playing on the UNB rink, skipped by Josh Barry, who, when not playing for UNB,  plays with the PEI rink skipped by Adam Casey. The St. FX women’s team has two Island natives – Carolyn Rose, and Sarah MacPhee. The event finals go Sunday, Feb. 15 at 1 pm.upei_panther_wordmark_CMYKDraw:ausdraw

Games are 10 ends. Time clocks will NOT be used. The format is round robin, followed by a semi-final and a final. All round robin games and playoff games may be conceded after a minimum of 8 ends. If tied after 10 ends, an extra end will be played with rocks being taken to the away end and delivered towards the home end

Curl Atlantic will be posting live scores on their Curlcast Scoreboard at curlatlantic.com/scoreboard.  BellAliant Community One will  be live streaming games throughout the weekend.

The top two men’s teams and top two women’s teams will advance to the 2015 CIS-CCA University Championship in Waterloo, Ontario from March 18-21, 2015.
