Tied coming home, Team Mackay lose close Canada Games match with Ont. last night, play Yukon this evening

Team PEI Women, skipped by Kaleigh Mackay, lost their second game  last night, 10-7 to Ontario at the Canada Games in Prince George BC, by a 10-7 score. Ontario got off to a big start with a pair of deuces. The teams traded singles, but PEI pulled off a big triple in trail by just 1, with a 5-4 score, at the fifth end break, and then stole a single to tie the game at 5-all after six.  Ontario took singles in the next two ends, but PEI tied it up coming home, with a deuce in the ninth. Ontario scored a triple in ten for the win.

PEI has just one game on Tuesday, an 8 pm AST start, against the Yukon.

The PEI women’s team lost their opener earlier on Monday  to Saskatchewan, by a 7-3 score. Saskatchewan, with hammer, scored a single in the opening end, with PEI blanking the second and taking 1 point in the third. Saskatchewan was held to a single point in the fourth, but stole a deuce to lead 4-1 at the fifth end break. PEI blanked the sixth and took one in the seventh, but Saskatchewan took a triple in the eighth to lead 7-2. PEI took 1 in the 9th, but couldn’t recover.
