“The relegation, as much as it sucks and is stupid, can be a blessing in disguise for the team that wins relegation,” said Casey after winning the P.E.I. Tankard provincial men’s curling championship in Alberton on Feb. 10. “They will be playing their fourth game when every one else is playing their first game, so early in the week that team should have the ice down and that can be an advantage.”
Team Canada will be joined in the Brier’s main draw by the 10 provinces with the best combined records in the previous three Canadian men’s curling championships. That leaves P.E.I., Yukon and Nova Scotia to play a single round robin, with the top two teams advancing to the final to determine the Brier’s final berth.
