Meanwhile, the 6th season of Curling will soon be starting at the Belfast Rec Center on the 23rd. Like last year, teams of four will play once a week on Monday nights at either 6:30 or 8:00 from November 23rd (registration night) through to March 14th (just before March Break). The fee will remain the same as last year at $135 including HST per person. They also offer the ability to pay half by cash or cheque on Nov 23rd and the 2nd half by January 18th. As always, all money raised goes directly to the Rec Centre. Last year, $6,763. 95 was given to the Rec Centre from player fees, the weekly progressive “Twonie draw’’” and one Bonspiel. This doesn’t include the bar revenue from participants and spectators who enjoyed the bar in the upstairs viewing lounge.
The $135 fee covers the cost of ice time plus use of the “rocks”, brooms and shoe sliders. They do ask that players bring clean shoes/boots to wear on the ice so that salt and dirt does not get onto the ice surface.
You can create your own teams or rely on the Club to match you with other players to create teams.
Talk with your family, friends and neighbours then come out to enjoy a fun filled social winter evening at your Rec Centre.
