The Charlottetown Curling Complex rink of Kyle Holland and Sabrina Smith won the PEI Mixed Doubles Championship today at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, defeating the other team in the event, the Steven Thompson and Lyndsey Moore duo from the Crapaud Community Curling Club 3 games to 1 in the best of five series. This is Holland’s second mixed doubles title, but Smith’s first, as Holland was curling with Smith’s junior women’s teammate Katie Fullerton in last year’s inaugural event.
Holland and Smith won the first two games of the best of 5 championship by an 8-2 score, but lost their third on Saturday by a 9-1 score, forcing the 10 am Sunday fourth game, which turned out to be the last, as Holland/Smith, aided by a four point fourth end, doubled the Crapaud rink 6-3.
