The PEI Traveler’s Curling Club Championship, featuring teams who win their club championships, takes place at the Cornwall Curling Club from March 11-15, 2016 (if no tiebreakers, it could wrap up on the 14th). First draw is Friday at 11. Opening ceremonies are 6:15 Friday evening. All seven PEI dedicated curling facilities are participating in the men’s event, with six clubs taking part in the women’s. The winning teams advance to the national Travelers Curling Club Championship, Nov. 20-26 at the Kelowna Curling Club, featuring 14 men’s and 14 women’s teams from Curling Canada’s Member Associations — the 10 provinces, three territories and Northern Ontario.

Last year’s provincial winners were the Lisa Jackson team from the Cornwall Curling Club, who went on to win PEI’s first Canadian Travelers Championship, and the Freddy Fraser rink from the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Under the eligibility requirements, these teams cannot participate this year.

The men’s and women’s divisions each play a round robin, with the top three teams advancing to the championship round, following any tiebreakers. The second and third place teams play in the semi-final, with the winner taking on the first place team in the final. If a team goes through round robin play undefeated but loses the first final,  a second final will take place between that team and the winner of the first final.
