PEI’s Robyn MacPhee team made it to the final this afternoon at the 18 team, $8800 total purse Lady Monctonian cashspiel at Curl Moncton, but had to settle for the runner-up spot, losing to the Jill Brothers rink from Halifax, which includes PEI native Erin Carmody at third stone. The game was tied 2-all after five ends, but Brothers took three points in the sixth to pull ahead. MacPhee recorded a single in the seventh, but ran out of rocks in the 8th. Final score: 5-3 for the Brothers team, who pocketed $1800 cash, and valuable CTRS points, for the win.

Other members of the MacPhee foursome are third Sarah Fullerton, second Meaghan Hughes, and lead Michelle McQuaid, while Blisse Joyce and Jennifer Brine play front end for Team Brothers.
MacPhee edged Haligonian Mary Mattatall 4-3 in the Sunday morning quarter-finals, and beat Shannon Tatlock from the host club 8-5 in the noon semi-final.
Brothers beat Theresa Breen, also of Halifax, 6-2 in the quarters, and doubled another Nova Scotia team, skipped by Mary-Anne Arsenault, 4-2 in the semis.
PEI’s Veronica Smith team, which includes third Jane DiCarlo, second Whitney Young, and lead Aleya Quilty, also made it to the money round, losing 9-2 to Arsenault in the quarter-final round.
